Moyglare RC host 3rd Leg of Horze Ireland Dressage League
The third leg of the Horze Ireland dressage league took place on Sunday 28th March. This leg was hosted by Moyglare riding club and took place at Coilog, Kilmeague. Co. Kildare. This league, which take place in the West Leinster region of riding clubs runs over five legs where competitors can earn points towards overall league results. League sponsor Paul Hughes of Horze Ireland was there on the day to present prizes to the winners in each grade.
The first class of the day was the open grade which had four entries. The winners were Susann Killilea and Landanos Rolling Clover from Killcarrick riding club who scored 68.08%. There was a joint second placing in this grade – Lynne Dempsey from Killcarrick riding club and Eva Byrne from Moyglare riding club, both scored 65%
In the advanced primary class there were seventeen entries. Placed first were Aine Keily and Condious. Aine is a member of host club Moyglare and finished on 60.59% Caroline Broadley, winner of the last leg of the league placed second this time out with Phoenix Princess on 60.00%. Caroline is a member of Killcarrick riding club. It was a successful day for Phoenix Princess who also placed fourth in advanced primary with her owner Patricia McGlynn who is also from Killcarrick riding club.
The advanced intermediate class had five entries at the third leg. Winner of the second leg, Danielle McKeever from Calliaghstown riding club won herself another red rosette at the third leg as she and Chancey scored 64.17%. Michelle Byrne and Baltyboys Master D placed second in this class for Killcarrick riding club on 59.58%
There were nine entries in the primary grade. It was a surprise victory in this class for Sinead O’Rourke from Maynooth riding club. Sinead’s own horse was unable to be ridden at short notice so Sinead competed on Willows Black Diamond owned by fellow club member Niamh Daly. On a different horse Sinead scored an impressive 78% to win the class. Second place in the primary grade went to Maura Duffy who rode Lucy Morleigh. Maura scored 70.67% and competes for Killcarrick riding club.
Thirteen riders competed in the intermediate grade. The winners were Anna Maria Curry and Royocco King from Newcastle Lyons riding club who scored 75.79%. Close behind in second place was Suzanne McGee. Suzanne and Bohemian Ruby are from Little Hill riding club and finished with 73.16%
The green horse class had two entries. Niamh Grimes and Kantico from Calliaghstown riding club won on 71.74% leaving Cathy Cooper and Delphi from Calliaghstown riding club in second place on 66.09%
The next leg of the Horze Ireland dressage league takes place on 11th April. Winterdown riding club will host this leg at Kildare International EC. Enquiries to Aine Corcoran at 085-711 7271.
