In spite of starting as outsiders, the Irish team claimed the Mercedes-Benz Prize, Part of the Meydan FEI Nations Cup™ when storming to victory in Aachen, Germany last night (15th July).
Ireland’s team comprising of Billy Twomey (Tinka’s Serenade) , Dermott Lennon (Hallmark Elite), Cian O’Connor (K Club Lady ) and Denis Lynch (Lantinus) won the German Nations’ Cup. Dermott lennon and Cian O’Connor were two of the riders who gained double clear rounds in the competition, the other one being from Penelope Leprevost (Mylord Carthago) from France.
At the halfway stage of the competition there were five teams in joint 1st position on the leaderboard, but in the second round, clears from Billy Twomey, Dermott Lennon and Cian O’Connor meant that Denis Lynch did not have to jump in the second round.
